Mrs. Lyle’s Killer Kung Pao offers readers a cozy mystery filled with lively depictions of colorful characters. The author presents a fun-filled murder-mystery with solid writing skills and descriptions in a strong voice. Pacing is quick and the structure is near flawless. As she is an outcast at the spiritual/psychic expo, I enjoyed how Dr. Meadows uses the P.I. flash cards as her own version of “spirit guides” to help her try to solve the mystery. In addition, I cherished the author’s description of “deep V” eyebrows being the look of a “real P.I. in the midst of a serious investigative thought.” Intended or not, I interpreted it as the author’s homage to the great Sam Spade’s V-shaped visage. Dashiell Hammett would be proud, Mrs. Lyle. If you like well-written, quality cozy mysteries, then don’t miss reading Killer Kung Pao.

Killer Carat Cream by Patrice Lyle is the second book in The Health Nut Mysteries. Dr Piper Meadows is two things – a naturopath and self-confessed chocoholic, as long as it is dark chocolate, of course. Piper is hosting an evening to launch a brand new exfoliator called Carat Cream. Containing diamond dust, it is claimed to be the deepest and best exfoliator ever. Celebrity dermatologist Dr Jasmine is testing it out for the cameras, but disaster strikes when she drops dead within seconds of applying it. Piper and her Aunt Alfa come under suspicion, especially Alfa who isn’t unknown to the police! Add a naked surfer, a Texan cowboy, a pot-bellied pig, a psychic from beyond, and a whole lot of secrets to the mix and you have the perfect recipe for murder.
Killer Carat Cream (Health Nut Mysteries Book 2) by Patrice Lyle is a laugh out loud book. Not having read the first one I didn’t know what to expect and I spent most of the book either laughing or with my jaw dropped! Ms. Lyle has written a whole set of characters that blend perfectly and the story line is second to none. There is no letup in this book; right from page one it's all go and it feels like you are on a never-ending fairground ride. There are plenty of twists and turns and, just when you think you’ve got it sussed, something else happens to send the story spinning off in another direction. This is one of the funniest books I have read in a long time and I will definitely be reading the rest of the series.

Patrice Lyle dishes up a spicy suspense with this cozy mystery. Dr. Piper Meadows is not like any other Naturopathic Doctor I've ever come across, she won me over the minute I realized she was a chocoholic and not afraid to embrace it. She is the type of heroine most readers would love to pal around with and her little entourage is amazing. Her Aunt Alfa is such a breath of fresh air, I can only hope that I am that feisty when I get older. Their little pet is too precious and the way he is coddled by the big Texan just made my heart flutter. I loved that this story was a zany mixture of information, snarkiness, mystery and giggles. If you like your characters a little on the outrageous side and your mysteries with a zing this is definitely one to read. I cannot wait to see what this group can get up to again and if Piper's cell phone plays a part in solving the next incident.

Patrice Lyle once again naturally delights with glitter and gaiety in her cozy mystery. Dr. Piper Meadows is as charming this go-around as she was in the debut story. She's such a unique individual with a nice array of strengths and flaws that come together to form a wonderful amateur sleuth. I loved catching up with Pipe, Tattoo Tex and Aunt Alfa. These three make such an entertaining ensemble and I could not wait to see just what would happen next. I also adored the little potbellied pig, so much so I even researched getting one for a pet! The setting for this whodunnit is a great choice and I loved the description as it made me want to visit because even with the murder it seemed like the perfect vacation spot. The story is over the top outrageous and I was so happy to see Mystic Ming make a reappearance. If you enjoyed the first in this series you won't want to miss this one because the author serves up another success with this sassy sequel. And if you haven't read it I suggest you pick them both up and enjoy the zany antics of this Dr. who uses PI flash cards to catch killers. I cannot wait to see who dies in the next adventure.

I laughed and laughed, as Patrice Lyle's quirky sense of humor fits perfectly with the Florida setting for KILLER KUNG PAO. I've already downloaded another Patrice Lyle book to my Kindle as I want to read more by her after finishing KILLER KUNG PAO.
KILLER KUNG PAO is crazy, outrageous, and pure fun! I love the approach to health that Piper takes but it is her Aunt Alfa who steals the show. I can't wait to see what adventures we have in store for us with this fascinating cast of wild and crazy characters (and did I mention the pet pig, Brownie?)! If you are looking for something a bit offbeat, full of humor, with a nice solid mystery and a touch of romance then look no further than KILLER KUNG PAO."

Dr. Piper Meadows is excited about the upcoming Carat Cream launch party where she hopes reality show celebrity dermatologist, Dr. Jasmine, will love Sparkle O's new exfoliating cream. Unfortunately, Dr. Jasmine barely has time to apply the cream before she's dropping dead! No one liked the unpleasant Dr. Jasmine and there are suspects aplenty, but Piper and her boyfriend, Tattoo Tex, will have to solve the murder before Piper's 91-year-old Aunt Alfa is accused of murder.
KILLER CARAT CREAM is the second book in Patrice Lyle's Health Nut Mysteries but can easily be read as a standalone. However, I can't imagine missing out on a moment of fun with these wacky characters! Readers will note that Mystic Ming, the victim from the first book, KILLER KUNG PAO, continues to make an appearance via his snarky texts from beyond the grave.
I love every outrageous and crazy moment of KILLER CARAT CREAM! From Piper's hair fiasco to the delightfully quirky Aunt Alfa and her new job with Senior Sweet Talk, every moment of KILLER CARAT CREAM is sheer fun. Tattoo Tex and Piper are an odd couple, but their differences only increase the fun factor even more. Patrice Lyle knows how to craft some of the most unique characters I've ever had the pleasure of reading about, and I love each and every visit with them. I can't wait to see what is in store for us next!
